I wanted to draw attention to the head of the giraffe as that’s the focal point of the animal. It’s quite small in proportion to the rest of the animal’s body so I used the most layers of cardboard on that bit. I also placed them on the neck piece of cardboard in such a way that they would stand out even further and give it more of a sense of perspective. The back leg and tail only use the original cardboard that I drew on, even though the tail needed to be closer to the viewer than the leg. I decided that I was going to do the tail with modroc instead of cardboard as I could create more texture that way and make sure that it didn’t stick out too far too.
